Frequently asked questions

Hours, pickup, lead times, allergens, and how ordering works at our Sugar Land bakery.

Do you offer delivery, or is it pickup only?

We don't offer delivery. Pickup is at our Sugar Land location. Every order is picked up in store.

How much does a whole cake cost?

Our 14 signature whole cakes cost $37 to $46 each, and every cake page shows its exact price. Custom decorated cakes start at $65. You pay online through Square when you order, or in store.

How far in advance should I order a cake?

You can order a whole cake online for pickup any open day from today up to 5 days ahead. Choose a pickup date to see current availability. Some whole cakes may be available the same day; availability is not guaranteed until the selected date is checked. Custom cakes need at least 3 days, plus a consultation and owner approval.

How do I check whole-cake availability?

Choose a pickup date to see current availability. Some whole cakes may be available the same day; availability is not guaranteed until the selected date is checked. Custom cakes need at least 3 days, plus a consultation and owner approval.

Can you write a name or "Happy Birthday" on the cake?

Yes — add up to 60 characters of writing to any whole cake when you order, at no extra charge. Writing on a cake needs a full baker shift, so we can't do it the same day — the soonest is the next day we're baking. Our bakers work Monday through Saturday, so writing for a Sunday pickup must be ordered by Friday. For any other decoration, call us and our team will confirm what's possible and the price.

Do you make custom cakes, and what do they cost?

Yes — birthdays, weddings, Eid, Diwali, Lunar New Year, quinceañeras and more. Custom cakes start at $65, need a 3-day lead time, and require a quick consultation plus owner approval so we get the design, size, and price exactly right.

How many people does a whole cake serve?

Our whole cakes weigh about 1.3 lb (0.6 kg) to 2.9 lb (1.3 kg) and serve roughly 5 to 13 people, depending on the cake. Every cake page lists an approximate serving range. If you're feeding a bigger group or want an exact size for a specific headcount, ask us about a custom cake.

Which cake should I get for my group size?

For the most servings, the Red Berry and Caramel Crunch serve about 10 to 13 people. For a small table, the Strawberry Roll serves about 5 to 6. Most other cakes serve about 7 to 12. For a party larger than one cake covers, order two cakes or ask about a custom cake.

What is the difference between Honey Cake (Medovik) and Napoleon?

Both are classic layered cream cakes of Russian and Central Asian home baking. Our Honey Cake (Medovik): Thin, fragrant layers made with real honey, soaked through with a soft custard cream — our gentle take on the classic honey cake. Our Napoleon: Homemade flaky pastry layers soaked with a fragrant custard cream — our take on the timeless Napoleon, soft and comforting. Honey cake tastes of honey and soft sponge; Napoleon is flakier and more buttery. Read more in our guide: https://happycake.us/guides/what-is-honey-cake-medovik

Do you have gluten-free cakes?

Our ingredient list shows no wheat in the Strawberry Roll, but every cake is made in a facility that processes wheat, so we can't call any cake gluten-free or safe for celiac disease. Please tell us about any allergy before ordering.

Is Happy Cake a Kazakh or Russian bakery?

Happy Cake is a family cake brand founded in Kazakhstan in 2013; the Sugar Land bakery & cafe, opened in 2024, is its first U.S. location. The menu includes cakes loved across Kazakhstan, Russia and Eastern Europe — like Honey Cake (Medovik) and Napoleon — alongside Red Velvet, Carrot, Black Forest and more.

How do I pay?

We use Square for secure checkout. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay through the payment link we send, or pay in store. Your online order is confirmed once the payment goes through; we hold your slot while you pay.

What about allergies?

Please tell us about any allergies before ordering. All of our cakes are made in a facility that also processes nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat, and soy, so we can't guarantee any cake is allergen-free. We'll always flag your note for the team.

What are your hours?

We're open 11 AM to 7 PM Central, Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Mondays. Pickups are scheduled inside those hours — we can't take Monday pickups, so plan whole-cake orders for Tuesday through Sunday.

Where is Happy Cake located?

Happy Cake is at 350 Promenade Way, Suite 500, Sugar Land, TX 77478, in the Houston metro near Sugar Land Town Square. Call us at (832) 520-2040. We're a sit-down cake bakery and cafe — come in for coffee, or pick up a whole cake you ordered ahead.

Do you serve Missouri City, Stafford, Katy, Pearland or Houston?

Yes — customers drive to us from across the Houston metro, and everything is collected at the Sugar Land shop. Stafford is about 10 minutes away (5.9 mi), Missouri City about 12 minutes away (7.2 mi), Richmond about 17 minutes away (9.9 mi), Houston about 29 minutes away (21.1 mi), Katy about 33 minutes away (21.8 mi) and Pearland about 34 minutes away (26.7 mi). We don't deliver to any of them, so order ahead and pick a day that suits the drive.

Where can I buy honey cake (medovik) or Napoleon near Houston?

At our Sugar Land shop. Both are whole cakes we bake ourselves — honey cake is thin honey sponge layered with soft cream, Napoleon is flaky pastry with custard — and both are sold for pickup. Medovik in particular is hard to find around Houston under either name, so it's worth the drive if you grew up with it.
